David Reddish – Head of Risk Management UK
David has in excess of 30 years insurance industry experience, with 28 years as a Risk Manager having worked for both insurance companies and brokers prior to joining Protector in 2016. He has experience in working with various sized organisations from SME’s to FTSE 100 companies. In addition to his Management role areas covered include General Risk Management, Fire Safety/Protection, Security, Business Interruption, Motor Fleet, Employers/Public Liability risks and Product Safety.
Neil Coulson – Risk Engineer
Neil has been working for Protector for over 3 years and is NEBOSH National General Certificated in Safety and Health and has 30 years insurance industry experience. Previously a casualty loss adjuster for over 20 years, Neil has worked for leading loss adjusters representing their client Insurers in accident investigation and risk improvement. With specialist skills in property and injury loss investigation and writing and delivery of bespoke client training programs, Neil has the necessary tools required to evaluate and assist clients in managing risk. His primary role involves undertaking Risk Management reviews of employers liability risks as well as public liability and property risk inspections.
Donal O'Hanlon – Risk Engineer
Donal has in excess of 30 years insurance industry experience, with 25 years in Risk Management having worked for insurance companies, brokers and been an In-House Risk Manager for a major international retailer. With experience of organisations from SME’s to FTSE 100 companies, Donal was also a Local Authority Councillor for 8 years, so has an insight into Local Authority risks. His role involves undertaking Risk Management reviews and providing consultancy/reports. Areas covered include General Risk Management, Public Sector Management, Fire Safety/Protection, Security, Business Interruption, Employers/Public Liability risks and Product Safety.
Andrew Gray – Risk Engineer
Andrew graduated as a mature student from Glasgow Caledonian University with a First-Class BA(Hons) in Risk Management in July 2018. An active member of the professional risk management associations, Andrew has won several awards including the Chartered Insurance Institute and IASG Risk Management Student of the year in 2017. Andrew’s previous career as a plumbing and heating engineer in construction brings over 14 years practical experience from both local authority and private sector organisations in the UK and overseas. Andrew joined Protector in 2019 and has previously worked for a national broker, accountancy firm and water utility company in different risk roles and is Cert CII and IRM Cert qualified.
Matt Coombes – Risk Engineer
Matt graduated from Liverpool John Moores University in 2015 with a First Class MEng(Hons) degree in Civil Engineering. Before moving into insurance he worked as a graduate Bridge Engineer on two of the UK’s largest construction projects. He became a Risk Engineering Consultant after completing RSA’s detailed Risk Engineering programme, and gained a CFPA Europe Diploma in Fire Prevention. He has wide experience providing commercial Property Loss and Business Interruption surveys for a range of clients and occupancies; with expertise in Fire Protection systems, Loss Control procedures and general Risk Management. Matt joined Protector’s growing Risk Management team in early 2020.
Mark Redding – Risk Engineer
Mark graduated with a degree in Building Surveying but has spent the majority of the last 30 years working for three major Global Insurers as a Risk Engineer, Account Manager and Property Risk Engineering Manager. With a wide breadth of property risk management experience in many industries he has spent a large part of the last 15 years managing corporate property, construction, property owners and mid-market commercial books. In recent years he has been heavily involved in supporting external industry groups including the Construction Insurance Risk Engineers Group and has taken an active role on a number of the RISC Authority working groups. He has worked with many clients in embedding and testing Business Continuity Management regimes.
Matthew Kiernan – Risk Engineer
Matthew graduated from The University of Sheffield in July 2019 with an MEng (Hons) degree in Mechanical Engineering, before joining Protector in October 2019. Matt began his career underwriting property, motor and liability risks across the Public Sector before joining Protector’s Risk Management team in May 2020.
Colin Knight – Risk Engineer
Colin has 20 years’ experience within the fleet safety arena and holds various qualifications ranging from fleet driver trainer, advanced driving examiner a BA Hons Degree in Occupational Road Risk Management and lead auditor for ISO 39001 Road Traffic Safety Management Systems. Colin has provided technical assistance and strategic consultancy across multiple industries worldwide and has designed and implemented safety improvements and cost reduction interventions for some of the biggest organisations within oil pharmaceutical and energy sectors. In addition, he has held internal senior risk manager roles within leading logistics, insurance and Health & Safety organisations, focusing on delivering quantifiable benefits within the fleet and driver safety context.
Mark Jarman – Risk Engineer
Mark has over 20 years of experience in health, safety and risk management working in aviation and logistics, the emergency services and local authorities before joining Protector in the summer of 2021. A Chartered Member of IOSH and a Certified Fellow of the IRM, he specialises in casualty, bringing skills in analysing claims and near-miss reporting and health and safety management systems and arrangements.
